Cooking with Canoe Plants

My Project

Part of the Alternative Learning Program (ALP) curriculum includes cooking with culturally significant plants (canoe plants). The provision of cooking skillets and cooking supplies will allow my students to create dishes using canoe plants such as taro, breadfruit, coconut, sweet potato, and banana. These plants can be attained for free because they can be found in many backyards of the community. Not only will my students learn how to cook with these readily available plants but they will hone their cooking skills, math skills and have secure sources of food.
