Cooking requires a multitude of skills, including language, reading and math. Therefore, Cooking with a purpose project will allow my students to develop functional life skills through hands-on learning.
Through this project, I will be able to incorporate new learning experiences for teaching vocabulary, sequencing, "wh" questions, following directions, and so much more- providing a language rich environment for both my neuro-typical and neuro-diverse learners.
Using basic kitchen tools, like measuring cups, mixing bowls and utensils, my students will follow recipes for making a variety of foods and drinks. In addition to, learning safety and proper use of basic kitchen equipment such as: knives, a blender, and mixer.
Providing this opportunity for my kiddos will enhance their educational environment. Along with promoting fun and engaging sessions for the growth and development of language skills needed for communication and general life knowledge.
