Cooking Up Life Skills

Help me give my students kitchen supplies such as a blender, toaster oven, and cooking utensils to increase their independent living skills.

My Project

The supplies that I am requesting will be used in a special education classroom for elementary students. The cooking supplies will be used to teach my students how to prepare simple meals for themselves. We plan to teach students how to prepare premade meals by using the microwave and toaster oven. We also plan to teach students to cook simple cultural dishes using the pots, pans, and hot plate.

By teaching students to prepare their own meals, it allows them to practice many skills that include math, reading, communication, following directions, etc.

My students require substantial support to meet their every day needs. If we are able to develop these types of skills when students are younger, they have a higher chance of being more successful throughout their academic years.
