My Project
Our preschool classroom is a vibrant, inclusive space where general education and special education students learn together through hands-on experiences. One of the most engaging components of our curriculum is cooking lessons, which help students build math, science, motor, and social-emotional skills. Unfortunately, due to our current lack of proper food storage and heating equipment, we're unable to implement these lessons as designed.
Our curriculum includes engaging cooking lessons designed to build math, science, motor, and social skills and that’s where you come in!
This project will provide us with a mini fridge and freezer to safely store perishables and student-specific food items, especially important for those with restrictive diets or sensory needs. A microwave will allow us to heat food safely during lessons, and a Keurig machine will give us the option to prepare warm beverages such as decaf tea or hot cocoa for calming or cultural activities. To keep everything organized, we’re also requesting a multi-tier storage shelf for easy access to our cooking supplies and equipment and set of storage containers that will help us keep ingredients fresh, separated, and clearly labeled.
These additions will make our classroom more functional, inclusive, and engaging—ensuring all students can participate fully in cooking-based learning experiences. The storage shelf will keep supplies organized and accessible for little hands while promoting independence. Our preschoolers deserve every opportunity to learn by doing—and this project will help make that possible!
