We are a class eager to learn together and play together! Our community comes from a wide variety of backgrounds and needs. My class has a large number of students with disabilities and special needs including ESL, speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. These students, along with our regular education students who perform at or above grade level, create a unique learning environment.
My students are Pre-K and Kindergarten students in a next generation learning community.
We have a focus on learning through inquiry topics, as well as providing students with engaging questions to understand the bigger picture. Our school has a focus on multiage classes working together in next generation learning communities.
My students love pretend play! They use their imaginations to interact with each other in a variety of ways. Sometimes they are meteorologists and other times community helpers. The dramatic play area is a favorite center in my room during our free choice time.
Playing house develops a strong sense of community.
My students need a safe stove and sink to foster household interactions. The stove and sink would go great with our pots, pans, and dishes.
These materials will be a way to launch creative play in our classroom. Thank you for promoting a sense of imagination and community amongst my students.
