My Project

The Kitchen Life Skills Lab is an engaging, hands-on program that teaches students with disabilities essential daily living, cooking, and safety skills in a structured, sensory-friendly environment. Students rotate through stations to practice food preparation, hygiene, cooking, cleaning, and meal planning, building confidence, independence, and readiness for community participation.

Students learn to safely prepare foods they can make independently at home.

Beginning with low-risk recipes, adaptive tools, step-by-step visuals, and video modeling guide each task. Repeated practice combined with sensory supports helps students master cooking, measuring, and cleaning skills. Each activity is chosen for real-world applicability, empowering students to confidently follow instructions, share meals, and take pride in accomplishments both in the classroom and at home.
