My 18 kindergarten students walk into the classroom everyday with a smile on their face and ready to learn. They embrace challenges and are extremely curious. In our classroom, we are a team, we are explorers, we work hard, we make mistakes and we have fun!
I want to make sure my students have the best opportunities to learn through positive experiences and have the social skills they need to thrive in the future through discovery and play based learning.
My kindergarten students are curious about the world around them.
They are masters at using their imagination and creativity to explore everything from jobs that sound interesting, the roles they see the adults in their lives playing, and dramatically acting out favorite stories from read alouds.
In District 146, we promote inquiry and discovery based learning in which students use curiosity and imagination to guide curriculum and instruction. The dramatic play center is a wonderful place to promote just this.
Through dramatic play, students are counting money, creating menus, taking care of others with baby dolls, practicing social skills, problem solving and more all while having FUN!
By providing these motivating and appropriate materials, students will be able to have meaningful play experiences with a wide variety of imaginative play schemes. They will have the opportunity to work with their friends and have fun while learning these important skills!
