This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each week I lead a cooking club where students get to talk about the foods they like, try new foods, and make something to try. Our cooking club incorporates math and science in ways the students didn't know existed. We need cooking and kitchen supplies to make this happen. During our cooking club, we have made recipes that require no stove.

The students are learning lifelong skills while learning to cook.

Students are trying foods they would never have been exposed to before like dragon fruit and learning how to make recipes that are healthy like smoothies, homemade salads and dressing, and indulgent recipes like microwave brownies in a mug to homemade ice-cream. Students are in charge of helping to decide and helping to make what we do each week.
