Cooking Like Crazy

My students need cooking supplies; including plastic wrap, plastic bags, tin foil, paper plates, cutlery, and cups.

My Students

Every Fun Friday I say, "Today we are going to cook like crazy!" and the students are so excited.

My students are 10-12th grade students who have moderate cognitive disabilities.

Some of the students go out into the general education classes during the day, some go to the Educational Technology Center and others receive most of their education in my classroom.

My Project

The cooking supplies that I am requesting including plastic wrap, plastic bags, tin foil, paper plates, cutlery, and cups will help students transfer skills that they are taught into a real world experience. Students will be able to plan, prepare, cook and serve others as part of the job preparation experience. Some of these students can then go on to work in other areas requiring the same skills.

This project will make a difference for these students by giving them a passion for coming to school.

Creating food for others can be rewarding and can be a bond between people. My students will become increasingly independent and will be able to transfer their skills learned.
