My Project

My goal for this project is to teach basic cooking skills to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students who would otherwise not have access to instruction and materials. This supports students with disabilities to learn independent living skills for their adult life. The materials being requested are standard necessities for cooking. These materials will be used by both of our school's ELA classes to support reading recipes and executing cooking skills.

The kitchen supplies are crucial to the implementation of the new life skills curriculum for our students with disabilities.

The students will learn how to read and follow recipes, create a shopping list of ingredients, and budget finances for groceries. When students complete the life skills course, they will have the ability to cook and grocery shop independently as they move into life after high school. This independence will increase their likelihood of being able to be successful as an adult.
