My Students

My students are going to get the experience of growing, harvesting and preparing our own food! As a sixth grade Food and Nutrition teacher, I want to give the students a hands-on experience, a farm to fork, organic gardening and cooking life lesson. Growing and cooking our own food is a life-long skill! I want to teach my students how to prepare fresh, organic snacks. Using fresh veggies and fruits, we will be creative chefs! We need a few supplies so we can make fun, fresh shaped foods! Preparing food can be fun. I want to encourage my students to grow, harvest and prepare fresh food, not processed junk food. Cooking is a blast and I want to share this life-long skill with my students!

My Project

In our Foods and Nutrition Class we are going to be learning how to grow, harvest and prepare our own food.

We need some cooking supplies such as cookie cutters, vegetable shapes, and kabob sticks so we can be creative!

Vegetable cutters will allow us to make adorable veggie kabobs! We are going to learn how to prepare healthy and creative snacks. We will also have cooking contests in our table teams! The students will learn life-long skills in food prep, cooking, and healthy choices. The memories created in this class will last a lifetime! Gardening, harvesting, preparing, enjoying healthy food. We will develop a pride in food prep and preservation by learning how to can and dehydrate fresh foods!
