The students in my class represent the average of students at our Middle School. The school is an inner-city school with 68% low income.
I teach science-intro to cooking to students in grade seven and eight.
This program introduces basic skills of cooking to students while focusing on health, measurement, temperature, safety, and fun!
The program goal is to create well rounded students and introduce them to the options of our high school career tech program.
By creating many different food items the students will gain knowledge of tools to use and necessary protocol to follow in the kitchen.
With 65 students cooking about 3 days a week, there is a huge need for refrigerator space in my classroom. This large refrigerator would allow 2 groups to store their TCS (Temperature Control for Safety) foods in while they are working on cooking projects.
A new refrigerator would make my student's experiences and organization in my class so much better!
With fifty minute classes, it is necessary most projects to break up the lesson into a few days requiring the foods to be stored and refrigerated for safety. The items we are asking for would provide that for all of my classes.
