Cookies and Cards for Vets

Help me give my students cookies, cardstock for cards and a printer to print them.

My Project

Our school is close to two military bases, and my second graders attend an older, urban school designated as high poverty, but we are not a Title I school and as a result, we lack the resources and opportunities of many other schools. Many of my students have parents who are deployed, or have grandparents or family members who are veterans.

I want to create a special community service project so my students can make cards and cookies for our local service personnel and vets.

I will deliver the cards and cookies to personnel at JBER.

My students will write thank-you cards for their family members, illustrate them and then print them using the color printer. They will also make copies of the cards for local military troops who will spend their holidays away from home. Students will team the cards with cookies.

I am excited to teach my students about the power of communication. I want all of them to learn the importance of thanking our vets.

My students need your help because my school has no money for luxuries like the printer, toner, cookies and special paper.
