My Project

I love that my students are eager to learn to cook and sew. Many of them have not cooked, baked, or even seen a sewing machine. Our school is located outside a very small Kansas town and serves six small towns around us. It is a 1A school in a very rural setting. Our district serves about 330 students in one building that houses pre-K through 12th grades. Over 85% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches and come from rural homes.

We need updated cookware to provide the opportunity to teach STEM in the kitchen, especially cooking measurements and the science and art of baking.

These cooking supplies will continue to help my classroom with hands-on work that I strive to create. I have been working hard to revive the FACS classroom so our students can learn nutrition and essential cooking skills. This new cookware will help teach students the life skill of cooking.
