Cook and Clean: Getting Ready to Rock This School Year!

Help me give my students the best start to a school year by adding to our materials in enhancing our curriculum by providing domestic equipment/ tools that we can use in basic food preparation and daily living tasks.

My Project

As I teach a functional curriculum for my Extensive Support Needs Class, it is important that we practice activities that will enhance students' capabilities and skills in basic food preparation and other domestic skills that can help them to further reach their maximum potential.

Cooking teaches students about nutrition, encourages creativity, and provides the opportunity to make their own healthy meals and snacks.

The materials requested for this project will be used to achieve our goal of creating our class monthly recipes. The recipes we will be following are directly from our functional curriculum book: from simple to mid-complex cooking and food preparing recipes. We will be preparing foods that are mostly eaten during breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner that students are somehow familiar with.

Having appropriate materials and tools for each recipe like an air fryer, blender, food processor, muffin pans, toaster, and other equipment will allow my students to train better in food preparation, simple baking, and appreciate the art of cooking. Additionally, I have requested cleaning tools such as a broom and mop so students can practice cleaning the kitchen space after they use it.

Our students love cooking and would very much appreciate being able to fulfill their wishes to cook food and prepare snacks for their families and themselves. With your assistance in providing the materials we need, we can jumpstart our monthly cooking project with the appropriate tools and materials needed.
