My students are hard-working and constantly overcoming the barriers that life has set for them. I work at a Title I school where the majority of my students are low income and qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch. 98% of my students are minorities, the majority of them of Hispanic origin. Many of my them are immigrants and English comes as a second language to them.
My students have overcome these hurdles which dictate that they should not succeed.
In my classroom, I promote choice reading. I want my students to enjoy reading, and would like to promote this with a laid back and comfortable setting to do so. I believe that if they are given the opportunity to read in a relaxing and comfortable environment, then they are more likely to want to read.
Your donation to my project would facilitate me in creating flexible seating options that enhance student engagement, and allow for students to read in a setting of their own choosing.
In addition, the chairs and stools of which you would be donating would also allow my students to build a sense of community and promote collaboration without the restrictions of traditional seating.
