My Students

This year, I have 10 - three, four, and five-year-olds. We started the year learning how to become a school family. Children need to feel that they belong before they can feel safe enough to learn. And like most families, there are challenges: communication, social/emotional, routines, taking care of our environment, and sharing.

Now that my children feel like they are cared for and they belong to our school family - they are all enthusiastic, competent, and capable learners.

My children have different needs and abilities and they love to learn. They all have different skills, interests, and ways of learning. Some are learning STEM and coding while others are learning how to write their names and learning the letter sounds. That is what makes my job so much fun!

My Project

Mathematical concepts are in our everyday routines; which many of us take for granted. From counting socks to picking 5 apples from a grocery store to adding up the cost for various items. This set of mathematical magnetic tins would be a great addition to our everyday teaching of these concepts. They would be used in small groups once a week with the children.

This resource would give the children opportunities for involvement in experiences that support the investigation of ideas, complex concepts and thinking, reasoning, and hypothesizing.

It would also provide opportunities to make the children's ideas and theories visible when teachers model mathematical and scientific language.
