Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm a first year teacher that got hired after the beginning of the school year, so I'm trying to build a classroom and community quickly! My students are the best in the state and deserve a quality classroom where they can learn and grow to the best of their abilities.
I believe in addition to content, we are teaching the students to be organized and independent young adults.
In my classroom, students keep everything in their binder, including their bell-ringers, homework, resource pages, and assignments. The binder is essential to teaching my students how to be accountable for their belongings and their learning. Students begin using the binder the first day, and I want to remove the barrier of having to purchase another resource.
I want to build an environment where students feel their best so they can be their best. I plan on using the fridge and microwave to keep snacks and drinks so during tutoring sessions, lunch and learns, or overall class time. According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, students should be hydrated and full so we all can focus on learning to the best of their abilities.
Creating a safe and nurturing classroom environment is essential, and having these resources would profoundly enhance my students’ learning experience in ways beyond imagination.
