I am a National Board Certified Teacher who works at a Title I elementary school.
Many of my students come from military families and their experiences are often brought into the classroom.
More than 50 percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced-priced lunch. My classroom is one that is diverse in learning styles, cultures, and interests. It is the varied backgrounds of my students that evokes wonderful classroom discussions and allows my students to learn from their peers' perspectives respectfully.
My Project
Becoming a National Board certified teacher 8 years ago changed the way I think about delivering instruction to my students. The process allowed me to reflect on my students needs individually as I plan lessons. I am seeking your support to continue to develop my teaching practices through participating in the renewal process. Your investment in me will help me continue to sow seeds into my students future.
The renewal process will allow me to complete 3 Professional Growth Profiles in which I videotape a lesson and write and reflect on my instructional choices.
When I first completed the certifcation process I recall doing a lesson on the importance of saving, spending, or donating. This lesson connected my students with a real word skill so often left out of our curriculum. I plan to continue to teach my students financial literacy and your donation will bring home the importance of giving back with your support.
National Board certification is a huge accomplishment and I cannot wait to undergo the process again.
