Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day ready to learn and grow. They are excited to be at school and are amazing in every way!

These students make it easy for me to come to work every day and I absolutely love what I do!

My students face many hardships on a daily basis, yet they are always happy to be in our classroom. They are learning that if they work hard and do their best, they can make their dreams come true.

Many of these students do not have the basic resources that many of us take for granted, so I try to provide as much support and love during the school day to make sure they know that they are loved. Many of my students are learning to deal with difficult situations outside of school. Our school is set in an urban neighborhood just outside of the center of the city. We provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to the families and we have many students who receive backpacks full of food for the weekends to be sure they are fed. Even through all of this, they stay positive and love to learn!

My Project

Teachers and students across the country are facing new and challenging situations as we continue this quarantine. This situation is extremely difficult for my students because we have built a strong sense of classroom community and we are a family.

The the iPad, keyboard and Apple Pencil I am requesting through this project will help me connect with students and continue to offer support for online learning through a personal approach based on students' individual needs.

I will use the iPad and accessories to record and teach individual and small group lessons to support students with special needs, English Language Learners and all of the students in my class. The materials in this project will make it possible for me to stay connected and check on my students' varying emotional needs through the use of this technology as well.
