Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My third grade dual language students live in an economically disadvantaged community. Ninety-two percent of students from our school come from low income families. All my students are Spanish speakers learning English as their second language. Like every other kid, my students dream of becoming great global citizens with wonderful careers in their future, and I believe that every single one of them can.
When I see my students, I see all the potential they have to be very successful citizens of the 21st century.
Even though they are facing many challenges with this coronavirus pandemic, they are very enthusiastic about learning new things. They are continuing to learn from home digitally. I teach virtually during the week, and my students are very engaged in the learning even though they're on the other side of the screen. I admire my students because they are motivated to become better people and to achieve all their goals.
My Project
We are living a difficult time that we never thought we would experience. If we as adults are overwhelmed by this situation, I can't imagine what my students are going through. In my opinion, they are the true heroes.
I made this project because of my students and because it will impact their learning.
I know my student miss being in the classroom as much as I do.
With the materials from this project, I will deliver lessons to my students as if we were still in the classroom. The tripod will help me set up my iPhone so that I can use it to record my lessons. I will use the AirPod as a microphone because I can connect it to the iPhone that I will use for recording. This will be very helpful so that my students can hear me clearly when I'm explaining.
The document camera is a very useful tool to use when I'm teaching so that I can model to students. I plan to use these tools for the rest of the school year and for summer school as we continue with remote learning. When we go back to school, I will continue using these materials in my classroom.
