My Students

My students come from a rural farming community in South Central Oklahoma. Most students I teach have parents that are working in the oil or farming industry. We have a high free and reduced lunch rate percentage which means most of our students are eating in the cafeteria every day.

We also have many students receiving backpack food to take home on the weekends to help supplement their meals while they are not in school.

Students are in grades 7-12 in our Jr. Sr. High School.

My Project

Several students in the high school love to read and have managed to go through all the books in the library and are wanting some new titles to read. Also several books have been read so many times that they are starting to fall apart. We would love to be able to have books available for students any time they want to read. Accelerated Reading is part of all the English courses in our school, so it is necessary that our library have books available to check out. This project would allow us to add several options at all different reading levels for students in our school to have access to.
