Continue to broaden their horizons! Help our traditional and special needs students understand how to organize and maintain a clean studio space when printing!
These visual art students are happy to learn about different and interesting artists each day!
I teach general and special education students, grades 9 through 12, who attend public school in rural Southern Delaware. There is very little opportunity for students to experience and create non-traditional art, like printmaking. This district serves a high poverty population and it is my goal to connect academics to art while expanding their exposure to real world application. Their eyes are opening to the vast world of visual arts!
My Project
As high school students approach graduation, they are approaching the rest of their lives. The skills that we can teach them now will aid them forever! My request of a drying rack will help my learners have a clear idea about where to store valuable artwork. This helps students to understand that time and effort put into a piece means it is worth something! They need to understand that keeping the work area clean and neat is important! Our current classroom does not have any clear storage space for flat pieces of student art. Since all printmaking projects will be printed onto paper, without any space to let the pieces dry, what can we do? Students shouldn't have to guess where to put their prized artwork to dry. They have put a lot of thought and time into these pieces of art. We still need your support to provide a positive printmaking experience!
My love for art increases daily!
My world revolves around art and I would love to share this with my students! I am teaching printmaking to my classes so they can develop their experiences with inspiration and self-esteem. A donation to this request will help my students clearly understand where to store wet prints. This will help them understand to take pride in all artwork in the future.
