Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are aware of the need to understand our world better, the continents give us a better sense of the world around us.
To understand the seven continents, we have labeled all our classroom tables a different continent. We decided to label our classroom the continents to spark interest about other countries around the world. The students are already familiar with the continents as we call them numerous times during the day. Having more visuals around the classroom would be so beneficial. Teaching in an inclusion classroom, visuals are essential in having students remembering the information we are teaching. Having a space that we are constantly using for lessons would be a great reinforcer daily of the seven continents. My students are curious about the world around them and are interested in learning more about other countries. As they continue to grow and learn more about other countries, they will already have the background knowledge of what continents make up our world.
I want to highlight my classroom library with a rug of the continents. I believe the rug would be a constant reinforcer and a bright addition to our classroom. There is not a lot of room to display Social Studies materials and the rug would be an asset to refer to often during our Social Studies lessons.
