My students need 8 globes to study continental drift.
This project expired on April 8, 2011.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Being able to see the globe in 3D allows students to really conceptualize the idea that the continents all used to be in one piece!
My students are low-income, inner city kids from California attending a public middle school.
They are amazing! They are full of enthusiasm and thirst for learning! They are a wonderful, diverse group of students that represent many different backgrounds.
We begin by identifying continents on a map. Then, we cut them out, and piece them together into Pangaea. Students will then be able to conceptualize sea floor spreading and continental drift further, by observing Earth and it's continents on a true model.
The students I teach are already marginalized and being in a public school means even less resources are available to them.
Help make learning equitable in urban schools! We appreciate your generosity!
