My Students

This my 5th year teaching preschool and I absolutely LOVE it! My students are 3-5 years old. This is my first year as a Early Childhood Special Education teacher. I will have a blended classroom with 3-4 year olds in the morning and 4-5 year olds in the afternoon.

Each day is a new day!

I use play-based lessons where unstructured play is encouraged. Most of my students are from low income families and need more one-on-one attention so during center time I am right down their playing with them and loving every minute of it!

My Project

Building with blocks will not only allow my students to use their imagination but will also strengthen their socialization skills. My student's struggle with social skills and when it comes to building and sharing blocks, my students will need to communicate their thoughts to their peers.

My students will use blocks during center time.

Being a play-based classroom, it is important for my students to have materials that encourage imaginative play. Block building will increase my students’ cognitive skills because they will have an opportunity to learn about shapes, positional words, and most importantly, for my special need students, social skills.
