Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a poverty-stricken, urban neighborhood. Many come from broken and unstable homes. They attend a Title One school and are eligible for free lunch.

Our school's population is made up of African-American, Hispanic, and Kurdish students.

Many of them are learning English as a second language. It is important for them to be able to express themselves through their art. My students love art! They thrive in an artistic environment. They need opportunities to show how creative they can be.

My Project

Colored construction paper is used for almost every project my students make. They love to create collages, draw on construction paper with oil pastels, and make 3-D paper sculptures. They like to have a wide range of colors to choose from.

Do you remember how proud you were when your parents hung your drawing on the fridge?

My students feel the same way. They create works of art using construction paper on a daily basis. Without it I can't run a successful art program. Please help me to get my students the supplies we need for a successful art program.
