My students need construction paper for crafts, folder bins to stay organized, and picture books that teach lessons about character in the classroom and in real life.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am honored to call myself the teacher of 24 diverse and inspiring students. I teach in a high poverty school, and most of my students come from low-income families. I have students in my room that require a vast array of accommodations. Some of my students have diagnosed learning disabilities including ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and students with vision and hearing impairments. Despite these things, my students are resilient. They have the "grit" that is often regarded as the quality that enables students to overcome their circumstances. My students are loving, thoughtful, curious, and determined. I am grateful to come to school and spend my days with them.
My Project
Every good classroom should incorporate art projects into the curriculum. The construction paper I have requested will be a perfect start for my students! My students love to make crafts that match our book of the week, and we are very low on the construction paper to help us make these projects. The packs of paper I have selected will help replenish our supply. The folder bins will help organize students' writing folders and parent communication folders during the day. The picture books will be used to teach character building lessons to my students. The books I have selected focus on kindness, standing up for others, empathy, and self-control.
