I work at a school where 61% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My class is an integrated prekindergarten room, which consists of students aged three to five years old. The class consists of 30% students who have Individualized Education Plans. The students are learning through investigation, exploration, and building their curiosity through a science-based curriculum every day. Their success is vibrant through their dedication, perseverance, and above all their smiles through the numerous unit-learning projects we have completed.
This year we have had the amazing opportunity to publish another book called "If I Could Have a Pet." This activity had the students learning the research process to gain information about their chosen animal.
From visiting the library, the art teacher, taking research home to work on with our families, to finally getting the opportunity to present our class book and the students' non-fiction book, the students got to experience learning in a whole new way. Their in-depth learning, research, and engagement has enriched the student's love for learning. It is my ultimate goal through activities like this to keep enriching my students’ lives to help assist them in building the best educational foundation possible.
My Project
Having these materials will allow the students to have access to hands-on materials to enrich our science and stem curriculum. My prekindergarten students are eager and curious to learn about construction and the structures around the world. Students' creativity can be seen daily as they use classroom materials to construct the Eiffel Tower, the Capital Building, and many more. With these materials it will allow me to transform the classroom into a construction zone while bringing the wonders of the world into the classroom.
The students are enthusiastic about trying to recreate the wonders of the world and learning through construction of buildings and structures.
Through items like Block Play Construction Set, Branch Blocks, and the Power Tools Construction Tool Box for Kids with 31 Pcs Pretend Play Tools, Belt and Workshop Accessories Toy Set will give the students an array of materials to inspire their curiosity, construction, and engineering of structures they love.
