This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are going to begin a unit on ocean conservation soon. As a part of this unit, I want to give my classroom, which includes diverse learners and ELLs, a chance to learn using picture books and hands-on activities.

Students will learn how climate change and pollution are affecting the world’s coral reefs, and what scientists are doing to help save these diverse ecosystems.

Students will learn the body parts of a coral and build their own candy coral reef, followed by an activity sheet that will explain the process of coral bleaching due to climate change.
