My Project
With the rise of technology and paying too much attention to devices, my students have lost sight of the world around them. This project is meant to connect my students to the natural world! With the smart bird feeder my students will be able to identify the visitors that we have seasonally as well as all year long. I would love to be able to track how many birds we see and have the students collect the data themselves. It is my goal to start with native/commonly found birds of Ohio and then extend to native plants and animals of Ohio.
Among the supplies is the bird seed to help feed the birds that may stop by.
I would also like to have my students mix and fill the bird feeder themselves to foster a sense of responsibility.
The last goal of the project is to help my school become a "Wild School Site" as described by the Ohio Department Natural Resource's Wildlife Division. This project will help us take one step closer to achieve this goal!
