My students from Kentwood, Michigan attend the most diverse district in the state. East Kentwood High School gives students the opportunity to experience real life situations. My brilliant high school seniors are ready to see themselves in literature, so they can grow and thrive.
They exhibit sincere interest and willingness to learn.
They understand the power of words and ideas. My students are eager and interested in reading literature that they can connect to on a deeper level. Please afford them this opportunity.
I will be teaching African American Literature for the first time during the 2018-2019 school year. I feel honored to be given this opportunity; I sincerely can't wait. My students need the book, The Hate U Give for African American Literature.
Reading current, modern literature, that my students can connect to, will impact all of my students for a lifetime.
Witnessing my students read a piece of literature that they are connected to is a beautiful experience, please help this happen for my well-deserving students! I appreciate your consideration because if I could financially afford to purchase them these novels, I would in a heartbeat.
