Connecting the Classroom and the Real World Through Chess
Help me give my students chess sets for the gift of critical thinking through chess. I believe that the game of chess not only prepares students to be successful in the classroom but also in the real world.

My Project
This year, I would like to introduce my students to chess. By learning chess, students will learn important skills for their academic and social success. Chess provides students with critical thinking skills and life and social-emotional skills. The game of chess also transcends various subject areas. These chess boards will be used for small-group instruction to promote collaboration.
The game of chess is not just about winning but, like life, it is about learning and understanding your environment.
Researchers have studied how learning chess can positively impact education. From improvement in reading and math scores to stronger critical and creative thinking and help with special needs, chess has been proven to be an effective pedagogical tool for students of all ages and abilities.
