it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My project aims to enhance the well-being and unity among students at our high school by providing nutrient-dense and shelf-stable snacks for all who need them. Our school population has a large number of students who live well below the poverty line, are newcomers, and often have limited access to food to feed their brains and stomachs will have the opportunity to access these snacks in our Special Education Lifeskills classroom, fostering interactions with students with disabilities whom they may not have engaged with before.
The initiative goes beyond addressing nutritional needs; it acts as a catalyst for building connections and friendships.
Our classroom, currently known for leftover lunch items, recently began attracting non disabled students who, drawn by word of mouth, discovered a welcoming environment, new friends, and snacks when they were hungry throughout the day. Food is the universal language and need of all students, disabled or not. This project brings students together, and opens a door into the world of special education. Normalizing diverse human experience is important for all students to be compassionate and inclusive both in school and beyond. Our project would provide enough snacks to keep our drawers full and many brains fed. Thanks to your donation, barriers are breaking, comfort is growing, hungry students are eating, and friendships are forming for many.
