My first graders have a thirst for knowledge and want to explore the world around them. Even more, they love to share their learning with family and friends. Each day is a new opportunity for discovery of the world around them and for discovering the world inside a book.
The joy of learning cannot be contained within the walls of a classroom.
My 20 first graders love to learn outside, through books, projects, and games. We are an active classroom in a Title I school where exploration and collaboration are the norm.
No longer is learning confined to the four walls of a classroom. It's not even contained in one school. Students now have the opportunity to learn from, and share their learning with students across the country and around the world.
Through a webcam, my students can participate in global projects.
Many projects require classes to connect with other classes via Skype, Google Hangout, or other sharing platforms. The problem is, twenty first graders have to huddle around one laptop in order to connect with others. This is not the best scenario. The webcam will allow the entire class to be seen and to share.
