Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently a Math teacher. I teach in a high needs New York middle school. I need durable binders to last the year and help keep work organized. If students learn organization now and practice it each and every day they will be put on the road to success.

The majority of the students in my school are struggling financially.

Some of our students even reside in shelters. Most students qualify for the state's free or reduced rate meal program. Often times, the students come into school without the necessary materials to succeed in school. My school has suffered from severe budget cuts and teachers are no longer able to personally give each student the resources they desire. I do not want my students to go without.

My Project

With your help, each of my students can receive a binder to organize materials and keep track of homework, class notes and important resources. I am asking for a donation of 60 binders for my math classes, so that every student can create their own Math resource. Their binder is an invaluable resource for studying and completing homework, as well as for reference in class, as all our topics build upon each other. When students forget something, they can flip back to the appropriate notes sheet for a reminder. Not only will the binder be a powerful reference and study tool, but it will also help students acquire greater organizational skills and responsibility. My students would greatly appreciate and take huge advantage of the selected binders.

Student-centered binders are a tool that I find effective for the Math curriculum.

Having a binder will not only help students become more organized, a skill that will be utilized throughout their lives, but will enable them to take ownership of their work. Please support and provide binders for wonderful determined young individuals that need a little help.
