Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a mixture of English and Spanish speakers, attending a two-way immersion program. They learn in both languages each day, always showing their busy bee, "bee-lingual" pride! I work as a reading specialist to support students in English phonics, fluency, and comprehension.
All of my students, especially my older striving readers, struggle to find books that interest them on their reading level.
These non-fiction decodable books from Hello Literacy are engaging, NOT "baby-ish", and will help my students build confidence as readers. The difficulty level is just right for them, and they will learn about age-appropriate science and social studies topics as they strengthen their phonics skills.
