The Reusable Write & Wipe Pockets have become an essential part of our Spanish and math lessons, especially during dictation and problem-solving activities. Students can write, make mistakes, erase, and try again without fear. Being able to see their errors helps them reflect on their thinking and self-correct, which is especially important in a Spanish immersion classroom where language confidence is still developing. These pockets have encouraged participation from students who were previously hesitant to take academic risks.\r\n\r\nThe Flex-Space Premium Floor Seats have transformed our classroom environment. When students first saw them, they were excited and immediately asked when they could use them. These flexible seating options help students feel comfortable, calm, and focused, allowing them to choose a learning space that fits their needs. As a result, students are more engaged during reading, writing, and collaborative activities, and our classroom feels more inclusive and welcoming.\r\n\r\nFinally, the professional resources have had a direct impact on my teaching and, in turn, on my students. Esperanza Rising has enriched our literacy instruction by exposing students to a powerful story that builds empathy, vocabulary, and cultural understanding. Meanwhile, Scaffolding Language Development in Immersion and Dual Language Classrooms has helped me better understand how to support students' language growth intentionally and effectively. Using the strategies from this book, I am planning lessons that provide clearer structure, stronger language support, and more opportunities for students to succeed. Thank you for giving us tools that support both student learning and teacher growth—your support truly reaches every corner of our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1761267441193,"projectUrl":"project/hablamos-espaol-learning-reading-and/9850746/","projectTitle":"Hablamos Español: Learning, Reading, and Thinking in Spanish","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Portillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9449769_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707100119807","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9449769"},{"teacherId":10324811,"projectId":9863902,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support of my kindergarten classroom. Because of your donation, my students are learning and practicing essential skills in a more engaging, organized, and supportive environment.\r\n\r\nThe magic slates have become an important part of our daily writing routine. My students use them to practice letter formation, write words, and experiment with early sentences in a fun and low pressure way. They are especially helpful during Spanish literacy instruction, as students practice writing and reading letters and words in Spanish. Being able to erase and try again has helped build their confidence and increased their willingness to participate in writing activities.\r\n\r\nThe wall-mounted whiteboard you provided is used daily during instruction. Students practice writing on the board and then read what they have written, which strengthens both writing and early reading skills in Spanish. This immediate connection between writing and reading has been especially impactful for my kindergarten students as they develop foundational bilingual literacy skills.\r\n\r\nThe shelves and storage cart have helped transform our classroom organization. One shelf is used to display student work, which builds pride and motivation. The other shelf and the storage cart allow me to keep reading materials and small group supplies organized and easily accessible. This has improved classroom transitions, increased student independence, and made small-group instruction more efficient.\r\n\r\nYour donation has had a meaningful and lasting impact. My students have been loving the materials that we received. They have enriched the classroom in more ways than I could count. This enrichment can be seen both academically and socially. One resource that has made a huge impact is the set of dry erase sentence strips. These have turned writing into a fun activity and my students have made extreme progress in their sentence writing. Another thing that we received were multiple books that help students navigate their feelings and begin to handle them in an appropriate way. This is a huge impact in a first grade classroom!\r\n\r\n When the packages began to arrive the students were overjoyed. They loved opening them up and planning the different ways that they could learn or play with the new materials. Games that we received encouraged them to develop turn taking and sharing skills. They were in awe knowing that these special resources where selected just for them, and it was incredibly heartwarming to see how valued and motivated they felt. \r\n\r\nWe are using these new resources every single day in our classroom, both during small group and whole group instruction. In small groups, I created task boxes that target a variety of skills, allowing students to work hands-on while practicing at their individual levels. These task boxes have helped students stay engaged, focused, and confident. In whole group, students have also been using the dry erase markers, erasers, and dry erase pockets to practice weekly phonics skills. Each student is able to have their own pocket, marker, and eraser to complete their work. \r\n\r\nMy students are already showing increased enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to challenge themselves. Students are now able to combine writing with images and digital tools, which helps them stay engaged and better understand what they are learning. Technology also supports different learning styles and gives students more confidence in expressing themselves.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most about this new product is that learning feels more interactive and personal. Firstly, my students were held at a higher standard. They were expected to achieve several objectives on their own. The students had to choose a book about an artist. They had to read the book, take notes, and make sketches for their final project. I reviewed with them how to take notes as well as make several sketches for their final project. I reminded them that they are not to copy the words or artwork. Therefore, some skills that the students learned during this lesson were to organize their thoughts and ideas through sketches and words. \r\n\r\nOnce they had their notes and sketches, they were to choose a medium for their project, such as printing, watercolor, or tempera paint. The students really loved to be able to learn on their own by choosing the artist and medium for this project. These opportunities gave my students the responsibility of middle school or high school students. \r\n\r\nAfter the work was completed, the students were able to share what they learned about the artists, medium, and themselves with the rest of the class. \r\nI am very pleased with this lesson.
