This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students come to school, despite dealing with the many challenges of coming from a low income/high poverty area. Some come to school hungry, with little sleep, and at times dealing with past trauma that makes it hard for them to learn.

For many of our students, my counseling sessions are the only chance they have at learning appropriate coping skills.

These sessions teach them how to identify and deal with their emotions, with hopes to find ways to appropriately handle them while in the classroom.

My Project

This project will benefit my middle school girls, who participate in my Confidence Club.

When you have healthy self-esteem, you feel good about yourself and see yourself as deserving of the respect of others.

When you have low self-esteem, you put little value on your opinions and ideas, and may find yourself fading into the background of life. Without some measure of self-worth, you cannot accomplish your goals.

This weekly group focuses on girls, grades 6-8, who struggle with a mixture of poor self-esteem, anxiety, and negative thinking patterns. It will include a combination of students in special education and regular education.

By purchasing the Self-Esteem Workbook for Teens, donors will be investing in a girl's ability to grow up focused on education and success in life, happy with herself and determined to leave her world a better place than she found it!
