This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the inaugural fifth grade class at our small charter school. They are a community of 20 learners who hold themselves to rigorous academic and civic standards.

They cross international borders to attend school each day, traveling as long as one hour each way just to learn.

Some are at school at 6 AM and do not leave until 6 PM. Our school serves 100% of our population free breakfast and lunch so that they may have the energy to learn.

My students deserve every chance to excel and broaden their horizons. Please help us succeed!

My Project

My students have needed extra help in the area of mathematics this year. We have tried all sorts of ways to "make it stick" including songs, games, timed tests, mnemonics, and others.

These daily practice books are just the sort of thing we've been looking for to add another way to practice during math centers.

The timer will give them a visual reminder so that they may see how much time they have to complete their worksheet, game, or project.

As a result of mastering the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, my students will be able to calculate problems without error and feel confident when they move on to 6th grade in a few short months.
