My students are a collaborative mix between special education students and general education students in eighth grade.
Our school is located in Staten Island, NY and was hit hard by hurricane Sandy.
Some students lost their homes and relocated. Many of them do not have all of the supplies they need to bring to school.
Asking the students to supply these calculators would be an extra burden that I would not want to put on them. Please help us supply them with the needed tools to pursue mathematics excellence!
My Project
The students in my school are in need of graphing calculators. The students will use the calculators to connect their algebra studies to real world problems. Students will learn statistics and be able to analyze linear and non-linear relationships.
In order to succeed in the new initiative Algebra for All, students must have access to the tools they need, and with the student population of the school I work in, not all of the students' families can afford these calculators.
Giving them the opportunity to succeed with the correct tools, would mean the difference for some of my underprivileged students to achieve their full potential in their academic careers!
