My Students

Do you remember how awful it was to take a multiple choice test? Providing students with computers will enable them to be assessed in a variety of ways. Students can create PowerPoint presentations, present projects through animation, record their voices to create a news report, and so much more.

Majority of our students receive free or reduced price lunch and do not have access to computers at home.

We are grateful to have programs that provide these students with coats, shoes, and Christmas presents. We need to give them the tools they need to be successful in school and future careers. Teaching students how to collaborate online with other students, find reliable information, and be good digital citizens are skills that students must have in the 21st century. Having computers in the library will enable students to learn these skills and be successful.

My Project

With the computers in the library, classroom teachers will be able to create collaborative lessons with the teacher librarian to enhance student learning. Students will learn to interact and compare research notes in a grade level wiki. Students will also be able to access the online databases and e-books to conduct research and complete assignments. Students can also connect with students in other parts of the world to gain a better understanding of different cultures and events that are occurring. Most importantly, students will learn to be successful and responsible in the digital world.

The 21st century requires skills that have not been necessary before.

Classroom teachers are overloaded with information they need to teach students. The library can teach students digital literacy, proper research skills, and so much more. As the librarian and classroom teachers work together, the students will succeed. It is essential that we recognize the need for our students to have these skills. Together we can build the future.
