Computers for Games, Differentiation, and Data Collection.
Help me give my students access to technology so I can collect the data necessary for the individualized education plans (IEPs) and help them achieve their special education goals.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I serve students with learning disabilities. They need additional help with their learning, especially at home. I love my students because even though they need extra help, they still try their best and don't make any excuses. One of my students always asks for clarification, he doesn't give up. He might have to ask the same question three or four times. I try my best to explain with different methods. We don't give up until we figure it out together.
My Project
I need two computers, one for myself and one for my paraprofessional, so that I can assess students, collect special education data, play interactive games, and provide specially designed instruction for my special education students while I am on the go. The students will be able to learn with the computers with interactive manipulatives, and learning games. I will also be able to show them videos, slideshows. I have multiple grade levels, because my school is Title I and in a low-income district. We do not have enough money for more special education teachers, therefore I am running around the school non-stop everyday.
It would really benefit my special education students if I had a method for teaching them small group and differentiated lessons while on the go, these computers will help me to provide students with interactive manipulatives, videos, and learning games.
