Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This is a whole new world. I have wonderful students that I have not seen in person since March 2020. I often wonder how much they have grown up since then. Everyone knows children can grow up so fast. Most of my students come from families with lower levels of income. DonorsChoose.org has been great in trying to bridge the gap that my students face social-economically. My students are great little people trying to navigate this crazy world we set up for them.

I will be teaching my students remotely but the reality is, this is new to us all because we can't use our classroom during the pandemic.

I do not know what that will look like in a few weeks but I am afraid for my life and the lives of my family and students. I am not getting any details on what my classes may look like but since I teach art, I will have to teach them all at some point.

My Project

This project is to supplement another project that was recently funded. I want to piggy back off of that project and use these materials to upgrade a computer that was recently purchased for my remote learning classroom. With the help of these upgrades to my computer, I will be able to make instructional videos as well as teach live through Google Meets. I need a new computer to produce creative videos responding to current events and get the students engaged in the process.

I will use these computer graphics card upgrades to make a series of videos and teach class live every day using the computer which is so much better than my current technology.
