Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our day starts with big smiles and bright eyes and it ends the same way. These inquisitive little minds need exposure to technology and I need to get them there, but I do not have the resources to complete this mission.
Our world is filled with technology and yet my students are exposed to very little of it.
As their education continues, they will be expected to type proficiently, know how to manipulate computers, and use technology in their everyday projects. The population of my school does not have these resources readily available to them. It is my responsibility to better prepare them and I do not have that ability due to our low technology budget. My students are wonderfully inquisitive people and need all the tools we can give them.
My Project
To have 5 new computers in the classroom will make a world of difference in our everyday activities. By third grade, our students are expected to type a complete paragraph in one sitting. To do that without frustration I need to teach my students typing skills. I envision my class also learning how to use the Internet to research topics. We will also need to learn about internet safety and how to use technology without abusing it or being possibly abused by it.
These computers will not just help my students be successful in second grade, but also give them lifelong lessons that will enrich their lives.
Having computers in our classroom will make a world of difference in my students' ability to have a more successful career in their school.
