My students are enthusiastic learners who love to explore the world around them and learn about new things. Their backgrounds differ greatly. Some of my students come from agricultural backgrounds and live on farms nearby while others drive quite a distance to get to and from school each day. My students' reading and math abilities range from some who are at least a full year ahead and others who are behind.
One thing all my students have in common, is that they all love to learn through hands-on experiences and technology.
My Project
My second grade students have been very fortunate to have one-to-one access to Chromebooks because of previously funded Donors Choose projects. Access to these Chromebooks has been a game changer in my classroom but unfortunately, my students need a bit more flexibility when it comes to navigating some digital content.
The addition of a computer mouse and mousepad would make it easier for my students to use tools within digital lessons more efficiently.
My students are not able to use the draw feature to the best of their ability in some specific programs because of the restricted use of the touchpad. Since my second graders are not yet proficient at using the keyboard to type, this draw feature is especially important for students to be able to write out their answers in a timely manner. In addition, my students do district computer assessments on the Chromebooks and some touchpads are touchier than others, making it more difficult to ensure accurate results from those assessments.
The addition of a computer mouse and mouse pad would make certain that my students have the tools they need to navigate and access all digital content with success.
