Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach an after-school computer games class for our Community Arts Program. I would like to provide my class with a mobile PC laptop, projector, screen, and educational software. Due to the discrepancies in language and academic levels, I project the games onto the wall and "play" as a group. Our neighborhood is at a 95 percent poverty level and 90 percent of the students are Spanish speakers that are eager to learn English. Due to the high crime rate in this area, many of my students are not allowed to walk the streets. This lack of mobility limits their access to the libraries and parks. Chavez School is a safe environment that is open to the community and this would provide a flexible learning tool for all. If I could acquire one IBM compatible PC laptop, I could conduct a fun after-school learning experience for many.
