Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a predominantly Hispanic school in which most students receive free or reduced lunch. In addition, many of these students are also labeled "at risk" and are categorized as English Language Learners (ELL). However, despite these challenges some students must face on a daily basis, they are up for the challenge of taking an AP Calculus course. These senior-level students are choosing to take a class that will prepare them for college rigor and put them ahead of the curve.

My students are ambitious, smart, and involved in many extra-curricular activities.

Not only are they challenging themselves mentally, but they are pushing themselves to be well rounded individuals. For this reason, I am striving to make their learning environment a welcoming, safe, and student friendly place they can come to.

My Project

Technology is a very important aspect for education. When it comes to learning mathematics, students need to see clear and concise explanations. Hence, students must have a good visual representation of what is going on.

When it comes to teaching mathematics to my students, I like to use a computer to create clean and effective presentations.

Creating clean and effective presentations requires me to purchase software that allows me to produce these presentations for teaching. The reason for this personal computer is because our district laptops are locked. We cannot use outside resources on our laptops; therefore, I have always used a personal laptop for teaching. I don't mind spending my own money for software if I know it will lead to better learning for my students. It would be nice if I didn't have to purchase my own laptop though.
