This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Several years ago, I was blessed to have a Smart Board installed in my classroom through Donorschoose. My challenge is that the small netbook I have connected to my Smart Board is way too slow for my students to wait.
My school is a small, Title I school where a lot of my students qualify for the reduced price or free lunch program.
Many students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. Most are English language learners, speaking English as their second language. My Kindergarten students come to school eager to learn each day.
My Project
It is wonderful to have the technology in my classroom, but when the technology gets outdated, it's hard to effectively use it in the classroom. It's hard for my young students to sit still, waiting patiently for my little netbook computer to load. I often lose them while I'm trying to open a file for them to see or do.
Having this new computer with the touchable screen would be a wonderful tool for my classroom.
When it's not being used with the Smart Board, I can have individual student use it for interventions. I can also use it as a teacher in many ways since it will be easy to carry around.
