My Project

I am the art teacher here at my school. We are a school for students who have developmental and physical disabilities. Most of these wonderful scholars do not have the tools of communication as able bodied people, or even the majority of people in the disability community. They rely on technology such as iPads to help communicate and for their learning experience. I as an art teacher for this population I have found that computers are extremely important for them. The computers that our district supplies to us teachers do not have the capabilities to run a program such as Photoshop.

For me to better reach my students I am finding that I need a laptop that will allow me to use Photoshop and other programs to give my students a richer learning experience.

I started the first yearbook last year and found that editing pictures on the issued laptop to be extremely clunky. The laptop that I am asking for will run Photoshop, and other Adobe software to help edit these photographs. I also want to use Adobe Fresco to create drawings and simple animations to help facilitate the learning of new concepts and the reinforcement of other learnings that they are getting from mine and even other classes. I have also received from the generous donors from Donorschoose a T-shirt press, and a Cricut, being able to use Adobe Illustrator will allow my students to design images for class and school shirts, flags, banners, etc.. Without a new laptop that will be able to hand Adobe programs, these dreams might not be able to be realized.
